KALYAN: The Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde approved a Rs 357 crore water supply scheme for Kalyan-Dombivli city under the Amrut Abhiyan Yojana. This will help in the smooth water supply to 27 villages of Kalyan-Dombivli city.

Under the Amrut Abhiyan, infrastructure facilities such as water supply, rainwater drainage, urban transport, and green area development are being constructed in cities.

To make the water supply system in 27 villages, the revised technical change proposal of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran was approved in the meeting of the State Level Technical Committee and the State Level High Power Steering Committee. Accordingly, the project was given administrative approval.

Deputy chief minister Shinde approved the project cost of Rs 357.16 crore for the technical change submitted by Maharashtra Jeevan Authority.

This scheme will benefit 27 villages situated in Kalyan-Dombivli city. Due to this, along with smooth water supply, 105 MLD storage capacity will also be created.

Kalyan Loksabha MP Shrikant Shinde and Eknath Shinde ahead of Assembly election had gave their word to the people of Kalyan-Dombivli to approve this scheme, which is now fulfilled.

In 2017, these 27 villages were included in KDMC. The ongoing urbanisation of the villages created a severe water problem here. Every day, people from many areas of these 27 villages keep complaining about the water problem. In such a situation, this step by the govt will play an important role in ending the water
