MUMBAI: A 36-year-old police constable, who was attached with the
Maharashtra Police
's cyber cell, died of Covid-19 on Sunday.
Harshal Rokade had showed a symptoms of cold and cough and had undergone RT-PCR test thrice but he wasn't declared coronavirus positive.
However, a CT scan carried out on him on April 10 showed infection in his lungs and that confirmed that he was infected by the coronavirus.
The policeman was recovering well and had even conveyed to his seniors that he will be resuming his duties in a day or two.
However, his condition deteriorated after his oxygen levels dipped suddenly. He succumbed to the infection while undergoing treatment at Sion hospital on Sunday afternoon.
His wife too has tested positive for the infection and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
So far,
Maharashtra police has lost 384 personnel due to the infection.
“Rest in peace Shaheed Harshal Rokade police constable Maharashtra cyber. It is indeed a big loss for our cyber family and Maharashtra police department. He was one of the most sincere, Honest, Hard working & dedicated officer. Maharashtra cyber salutes Harshal for his dedication,” Maharashtra Cyber Cell tweeted from its Twitter handle.
“Rokade was dedicated to his work and was the one who used to prepare the entire cyber crimehead reports of the entire state. He was prompt in giving answers to all the questionnaire’s raised in the assembly,” said deputy superintendent of cyber police Vijay Khaire.
