The Azad Maidan police arrested Rajnikant Madanlal Mourya, a resident of Vasai in Palghar, on the charges of cheating, breach of trust and Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices in University, Board and other Specified Examinations Act. Police officials said Mourya leaked the fifth semester exam paper to students Ansh Sangha and Suraj Maalu who have been served the 41 D notice and may be arrested soon.

Complainant Sumedh Mane, an assistant professor who was posted as a junior invigilator, noticed that one of the students was distracted. The examiner checked him and found the question paper in his mobile phone. On his complaint the Azad Maidan police booked two students at Siddharth College of Commerce and Economics in south Mumbai. During investigation, police learnt that the paper was leaked from Gajananrao Pandurang Patil College of Arts, Science IT and Commerce in Bhiwandi.

Mourya was produced before the local court which remanded him to police custody. A university official said they have not yet received any report from police, but once they do, action will be taken according to university norms.
