Maharashtra bandh: Stones pelted at BEST bus, driver hurt

A BEST driver sustained serious injuries after stones were pelted on his bus on Friday during the statewide bandh called by Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi. The incident happened in Mumbai's Chembur area.

MUMBAI: A BEST driver sustained injuries after stones were pelted on his bus on Friday during the statewide bandh called by Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi. The incident happened in Mumbai's Chembur area.
“There has been a stone pelting incident in Chembur in which a BEST bus driver was injured and the windscreen of the vehicle was damaged. No injuries to passengers though. Officials said that the bus was being operated on route number 362 and incident happened at 9.15am," said BEST spokesperson Manoj Varade.
The bus was heading towards Kurla Station East. Vilas Dabhade(53), the injured driver, is being treated at Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi, said the official.
The group has called for the bandh against the Citizenship Amendment Act, the proposed National Register for Citizens and current economic crisis in the country.
