Maharashtra bandh: Maratha protesters turn violent in Pune

The shutdown in the state got on to a peaceful start in the morning, but within hours there were many incidents of violence, especially in Pune district. A dozen public and private vehicles were damaged in other parts of the state, reports IANS.

Protesters turn violent in Pune's Kothrud

The Maratha quota stir took a violent turn in the city on Thursday and the police were forced to resort to lathicharge and bursting of teargas shells to disperse more than 1,000 stone pelting protesters who had blocked the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass near Chandani chowk for more than four hours since 11am.
