Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar decided to withdraw the state-wide bandh after bus and train services were hit in Mumbai while incidents of violence, stone-pelting were reported from different parts of Maharashtra during the protests. Stay tuned with TOI for live updates.

The shutdown evoked greater response in mofussil areas compared to urban pockets of Thane, Nagpur, Pune and other cities.

The coastal Konkan region reported a near-total shutdown, as also Dalit strongholds of Marathwada like Beed, Latur, Solapur, Jalgaon, Dhule, Ahmednagar, Nashik and Palghar.

Trains running uninterrupted on Central Railway from Thane
Following call for a state-wide bandh by RPI Bahujan Mahasangh, few protesters blocked the path of a slow train heading towards CSMT at Thane railway station around 7.50am. The path was cleared and services resumed within three minutes after the RPF and GRP staff pulled away the protestors from the tracks. Services are running uninterrupted on Central Railway from Thane, confirmed officials.

The Pune rural police said they do not know who started the stone pelting or who instigated the local villagers to indulge in violence that led to clashes leaving one person dead and three others on Monday. They are investigating how trouble broke out in the otherwise peaceful villages of Koregaon Bhima, Vadhu and neighbouring areas. Law and order situation in Maharashtra is peaceful, but stone pelting, rasta and rail roko andolans and damage to vehicles were reported in Pune, Aurangabad, Thane, Parbhani, Washim and Buldhana, additional director general of police (law and order) Bipin Bihari said on Tuesday.
Bihari told TOI, " On Tuesday, the law and order situation was fine.

Ten lakh Dalits had turned up at Koregaon Bhima, near Pune, on Monday to mark 200 years of the clash in which the Mahar regiment, which signed up on the Raj's side against the "casteist" Peshwas, had put up a valiant fight. Top Dalit leaders from Maharashtra were present, as were Gujarat's new Dalit face Jignesh Mewani, AIMPLB member Maulana Azhari and activist Umar Khalid.
