A day after supporters of NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad and BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar clashed on the premises of Vidhan Bhavan, Marine Drive police on Friday arrested two supporters of Awhad and Padalkar and also booked six to seven other unnamed accused.
Those arrested were Sarjerao Baban Takle, a supporter of Padalkar, and Nitin Hindurao Deshmukh, an Awhad supporter. The two accused were produced before a court and remanded in police custody until Monday. They have been booked for unlawful assembly, rioting, affray, assaulting or obstructing a public servant when suppressing a riot under BNS.
