Investigating officer inspector Bapurao Mahadik said the murder conspiracy was hatched by gangster Chhota Shakeel in 2002. "The accused were given a contract of Rs 50 lakh to eliminate Nanjiyani.
They were caught 26 days after the murder from Behram Baug in Jogeshwari," Mahadik said. Assistant inspector B R Garande, who was part of the investigation team, said when Nanjiyani and Noora were business associates they had bought a plot of land.
Nanjiyani had sold the plot for over Rs 2 crore, but didn't give Noora his share. An enraged Noora with the help of Chhota Shakeel then got him killed.
