SDA Bocconi Asia Center’s Leadership Summit 2025 in Mumbai convened global thought leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to explore strategies for resilience an sustainable growth. Alessandro Giuliani, Managing Director of SDA Bocconi Asia Center and President of the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce , opened the summit with a compelling address, "At SDA Bocconi Asia Center, we believe leadership is more than just academic excellence—it’s about navigating global challenges with resilience, adaptability, and critical thinking. As we gather for this Leadership Summit on Geopolitical Uncertainty, we must recognize that businesses today need to redefine strategies amid shifting power dynamics. But leadership isn’t about knowledge; it’s about integrity, collaboration, and social responsibility. Our goal is to shape the character of the future leaders with the confidence and purpose to drive meaningful impact in an unpredictable world." Giuliani's remarks emphasized that leadership today requires a deep understanding of global risks and a commitment to fostering long-term, responsible strategies. He also underscored the importance of lifelong learning as the foundation for resilience in a volatile environment.
Siddharth Sinha, former Advisor to India’s G20 Sherpa, delivered a keynote address on the delicate balance between economic interests and diplomatic relations.“One of the reasons why G20 was so successful for India was because we were able to see challenges as opportunities and drive coversations and consensus around green development and digiital public infrastructure while also positioning ourselves as the voice of the Global South. It was a historic presidency, it was a people’s presidency,” he observed.
His insights framed the subsequent fireside chat, moderated by Prof. Shibani Belwalkar, which featured Aman Mittal from the Indian Administrative Services (IAS). Mittal emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between government policies and private enterprises to drive sustainable economic growth.

Expanding into global markets requires regulatory expertise, resilience, and agility. Moderated by Prashant Parashar, this panel featured Alokedeep Singh, Mandar Desai, Gaurav Poddar, and Indrajit Pakrasi. They stressed the importance of leveraging digital tools, anticipating policy shifts, and embracing strategic foresight to turn global challenges into opportunities.
The panel emphasised that successful global expansion requires strategic foresight, operational flexibility, and the ability to anticipate sudden regulatory changes.
Gaurav Poddar, a Bocconi alumnus and seasoned marketeer in the chemical industry, echoed these concerns: "Regulations are business as usual, but sudden policy shifts—like U.S.-Canada tariffs—can disrupt entire industries overnight. What once seemed like a minor risk is now a permanent concern."
Their insights highlighted the need for businesses to remain agile and proactive to manage cross-border complexities effectively.
The intersection of sustainability and geopolitics is shaping how businesses define their long-term strategies. Moderated by Bidisha Banerjee, this panel included Atul Kharate, Joymalya Bandyopadhyay, Ashwin Srivastava, Nirav Jagad, and Loly Vadassery.
Nirav Jagad, Chief People Officer at SUGAR Cosmetics, emphasized the growing consumer demand for sustainable practices: "Consumer activism is now ‘consumerism’—customers demand sustainability. In beauty and personal care, cruelty-free products are no longer optional. Social media and digital transparency have amplified this shift, making sustainability a critical factor in business success." The panel stressed the importance of integrating sustainability into core business operations—not just as a compliance measure but as a longterm strategic imperative.

With technology increasingly shaping diplomatic relations, this panel focused on how innovations like AI and blockchain are enhancing global collaboration. Moderated by Varun Jain, the discussion included Aishwarya Jaishankar, Rohit Kilam, and Amey Lakeshri. The panelists emphasized that technology must be used as a unifying force, highlighting the need for ethical AI frameworks and regulatory alignment to ensure responsible innovation across borders.
