The lawyer for poet P Varavara Rao (81), an accused in Elgar Parishad case, has written to Taloja jail superintendent for information on his health after he could barely speak during a phone call to his family on Saturday evening. Rao has been admitted to the jail hospital.
In the email, advocate Nihal Singh Rathod told authorities an inmate (co-accused in case) who has been tending to him, spoke on Rao’s behalf to his family on the phone and tried to explain his condition.
Rathod sought Rao’s latest medical reports, including precise descriptions of his condition. He urged the authorities to extend video-calling facility so Rao could see his family.
