MUMBAI: A police team from Neral, where 62-year-old businessman Laxminarayan Kakkad from Kurla was found dead on Friday, recorded the statement of the senior citizen’s son on Monday.
Kakkad ran chit funds and had financial issues with some people, said the police.
Kakkad’s son, Umesh, had alleged foul play in the case. The autopsy report stated it was unnatural death, a result of haemorrhage and shock.

The police in Neral lodged a murder case. “Neral police are conducting the probe and we are just assisting them,” an officer from the Nehru Nagar police station said.
Kakkad’s body was found near the Jumma Patti valley and he was suspected to have fallen to his death. Kakkad had left home saying he was going to the market.
