Kulkarni may quit as Mumbai chief selector
Mumbai: Former India pacer Raju Kulkarni could quit his post as the Mumbai chief selector. Kulkarni didn’t attend the West Zone selection committee meeting to pick the Duleep Trophy squad on Thursday in Ahmedabad. The meeting was chaired by Kulkarni’s fellow Mumbai selector Sanjay Patil instead. When asked if he had ‘resigned’ from his post already, Kulkarni told TOI: “Not at all! I have not signed any contract with the Mumbai Cricket Association till now. So, the question of my resignation does not arise. In case they don’t accept my offer, I will have to walk away. I cannot just resign,” he said.“I will have to put in more than 1600 hours of hard work in a year managing both the Ranji Trophy and Under-23 teams. So, I have given my offer to the MCA to continue as the chairman of the selection committee of the two teams. They will respond in two days,” Kulkarni said.On May 3, the MCA’s Cricket Improvement Committee had announced Kulkarni as the Mumbai new chief selector of the Mumbai senior & under-23 teams.Dighe declines MCA's offerMeanwhile, former India wicketkeeper Sameer Dighe on Thursday declined the MCA’s offer to be the in-charge of the association’s Indoor Academy at BKC.
