Kenyan nat’l arrested with 1.5cr gold

Mumbai: The Customs on Tuesday arrested a Kenyan national for allegedly smuggling 3.6kg gold worth Rs 1.5 crore, at the Mumbai international airport.
Accused Sadia Mohammed Ali (38) was allegedly lured into the gold smuggling racket by her friend Safia, as she wanted to pay off her loan. She is one among the eight persons accused of smuggling around 8 kg gold and five I phones worth Rs 4 crore from foreign countries. Sadia was intercepted by the AIU when she arrived in the city from Nairobi. Her baggage search resulted in the recovery of 112 gold bars, five 22 KT melted gold cut pieces bars , 21 KT gold assorted jewellery, collectively weighing around 3kg and worth Rs 1.5 crore.
