3 booked for illegally storing gas cylinders

Mumbai: An FIR was registered against three persons by Kandivli police for the illegal storage and sale of gas cylinders in a manner dangerous to public safety. The case was lodged based on a complaint given by a rationing officer. Thirty-three vehicles carrying gas cylinders were seized by the rationing officers and the police. The value of the seizure is Rs 44 lakh.The accused have been identified as Brajesh Maurya and Rakesh Yadav, who carried out the delivery of cylinders, and Deepak Saroj, who ran a parking space from which the cylinders were being illegally sold. The parking space is located at Laljipada in Kandivli West.Police said the accused did not have the necessary licences for the storage of gas cylinders nor the licences required for explosive substances. The accused could not produce papers for the ownership of vehicles or challans for the gas cylinders.Yadav told the police that he earned a commission of Rs 90 per cylinder sold, while Maurya received a monthly salary of Rs 15,000 from the owner of a gas agency. Saroj received a rent of Rs 1,200 per month for allowing the owner of the gas agency to park his vehicles in Saroj's parking space.
