MUMBAI: Justice Prasanna Varale of the
Supreme Court on Wednesday said that the Constitution is a living promise to every citizen and must be protected through a commitment to courage, integrity, and constant reflection. He was addressing a gathering online from Delhi for the Constitution Day celebrations organised by Mumbai University’s law department through the release of its Law Quest Journal.
Justice Madhav Jamdar of Bombay HC, also speaking at the event spearheaded by Law HOD, Rajeshri Varhadi, stressed that understanding the Constitution is not an academic exercise but a civic responsibility that shapes how citizens engage with institutions and with one another.
The ex-CJI B R Gavai, in a foreword, said ‘75 glorious years of our Constitution’ as the theme “invites a reflection on the transformative journey of the living document.”
