MUMBAI: Following reports of delays in taking X-rays of those who died in the recent terror attacks, the JJ Hospital Post-Mortem Centre is planning to buy a portable machine to be used in such situations.
Each of the bodies that was brought to the centre for an autopsy had to be X-rayed first to find out if bullets were still inside the body. The bullets had to be retrieved and sent to the forensic science laboratory to ascertain which the weapons were used to kill the persons.

One of the terrorists who was killed had 17 bullet injuries on his body.
Police surgeon S M Patil said a private diagonistic centre had to be requested for a portable X-ray machine. The Nagpada Police Hospital, just across the street, has an X-ray unit but it is not big enough to handle so many bodies.
"We realised we should have our own portable X-ray machine and are sending a proposal to the state administration,'' Patil said.
