MUMBAI: The "crumbling" palatial house of Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah may soon be brought back to its original glory. The Bombay High Court on Thursday allowed the Centre to carry out repairs and renovation at the Jinnah House. Built by Jinnah in the late 1930s, the house is in the central government's custody after Independence. It got embroiled into a legal controversy as Jinnah's daughter Dinnah Wadia staked claim to it.
The Centre took possession of house as Jinnah's sister Fatima, to whom the house was supposedly given away in a will, migrated to Pakistan after independence.
But Wadia claims the will is not valid and being his only daughter, she has claim over the house.During the last hearing central government sought permission to renovate the house, saying it was "crumbling".
