Mumbai: Gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 18.05 lakh was looted from a jewellery store in Bhandup on Tuesday night. Unidentified men drilled a hole in the cement wall on the mezzanine floor of Kalpana Jewellers to gain entry to the shop. They also cut open the grills of the shop, which is located on Bhattipada road in Bhandup (W).
Police officials said the incident took place around 8.30 pm on Tuesday, after the shopowner had locked the premises and left.
A police complaint was registered on Wednesday by the owner, Yogesh Shah.
The stolen booty includes a gold mangalsutra worth Rs 1.67 lakh, gold chains, rings and earrings worth Rs 23,320, gold bangles worth Rs 96000, 27 kgs of silver worth Rs 4.86 lakh, 50 silver coins worth Rs 15,000, precious stones worth Rs 3.85 lakh, gold ornament sets worth Rs 4.2 lakh and Rs 33,000 in cash.
