Jeweller unhappy with the recovery percentage of looted gold
Vasai: Owners of the Mayank Jewellers were unhappy that the cops could recover only 300 grams of the 950 grams of stolen gold. They have given 10 days to the cops to investigate further about the missing gold and will arrive at a conclusion about the next steps in case the missing gold is not recovered. The cops have confirmed that around 300 grams were recovered from the accused and the accused have confessed that this is what they had looted.
Mayank jewelers, in Vasai West, was looted in an armed robbery on Jan 10 and the duo looted with trays full of gold. After 20 days, the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) cops solved this crime and arrested five accused.
"We are unhappy with the recovery of 300 grams, as our 950 grams of gold was robbed. We have given them confirmation that the gold robbed was 950 grams. Even our Chartered Accountant (CA) was called twice to confirm this. We have given 10 days to the police to recover the remaining gold and we will plan our next move after 10 days," said Manish Singhvi (Mayank Jewellers).
During the robbery which was concluded in 80 seconds, the thieves took the gold along with the trays, and in total 19 trays were taken away by the robbers.
Senior police inspector of Manikpur police station Hiralal Jadhav said, "We have investigated this case and solved it by arresting all the five accused. The accused have confessed that this was the only gold stolen."
