MUMBAI: The screening of David Fincher`s film `Social Network` attracted maximum attention on the opening day of the twelfth edition of Moving Academy of Moving Images ( MAMI) that started in the city on Thursday evening.
Most of the top film personalities attended the screening of the film including Ramesh Sippy, Shyam Benegal, Ayan Mukherjee, Minisha Lamba, Prachi Desai and many more.
For the first time, an all-women jury will judge the films at the festival. Jane Campion who heads the jury said, "This is my fourth stint as a jury member in MAMI and it is always very exciting to be aware of different ideas. I practice Yoga diligently, so I would like to learn more of it while I`m here. I also intend to visit Jaipur."
Suhasini Mani Ratnam said, "I am definitely going to adapt the experience at MAMI for my Chennai film festival. About 200 films will be screened at the festival, the highlight will be a package of Japanese cinema that has come to India for the first time.`` According to her, cine enthusiasts will also get a chance to compare the unique acting styles of some of Japanese cinema`s prominent actresses including Hideko Takamine and Setsuko Hara. A seminar on Japanese cinema is also being organized as part of the celebration.
MAMI will not only offer a prize money of Rs one crore, the festival will also hold sidebar events and open forums by independent filmmakers.
