The festival was planned by Mumbai Fintech Hub, Maharashtra government, ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY), National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Fintech Convergence Council. Planned on the lines of Singapore fintech festival, it was to be the biggest in the sector, with over 5,000 attendees from more than 25 countries and over 150 speakers. More than 4,000 had confirmed attendance, and 90% of the exhibition space was sold out.

One of the unique events lined up was similar to the reality show 'Shark Tank' where start-ups would pitch their business models in a 10-minute pitch to few venture capitalists, who would decide instantly on funding. The event was also to see the release of a fintech report in India, followed by awards. Founders of fintechs and industry leaders were expected to mingle with aspiring promoters and bankers.

"The organisers have been receiving queries from foreign delegates, speakers and exhibitors after travel advisories were issued. After careful consideration of safety of participants, out of abundant precaution, the organising committee has taken the difficult decision to postpone the event," the organisers stated.
