IIM Sambalpur begins admission process for dual-degree doctoral program
MUMBAI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur is now accepting applications for its groundbreaking dual-degree doctoral program. In partnership with IAE Bordeaux University School of Management in France, the Executive PhD & DBA Programme (2024-27) is a three-year program tailored for working professionals, enabling them to pursue advanced academic qualifications and innovation without interrupting their careers. Interested candidates must submit their applications, along with their CV, self-attested academic credentials, and a statement of purpose, by June 15th, 2024.
According to Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, "Executive PhD & DBA Programme for Working Professionals aims to equip students with sophisticated research methodologies following global standards. The programme is for working professionals who aspire to become global subject experts." He further explained that the dual-degree program focuses on practical applicability and interdisciplinary approaches, providing rigorous, world-class training across various areas of business management. This enables students to conduct research at an international level and facilitates industry executives in transitioning to research-oriented careers within academic institutions or research positions in the public and private sectors.
The program employs a hybrid delivery model, requiring students to attend at least three days of face-to-face classes at either the IIM Sambalpur or Delhi Campus, as well as two weeks of face-to-face classes at the Bordeaux Campus in France. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in a three-day Academic Writing Workshop at Cambridge University in the UK.
To be eligible for the program, candidates must have at least five years of professional experience with a postgraduate degree, a relevant master's degree (e.g., MBA) or a four-year bachelor's degree from a recognized institution, a strong academic history demonstrated by transcripts, GPA scores, and any relevant achievements or honors, proficiency in the language of instruction (typically English), clear research interests or topics within management or related fields, and a statement of purpose detailing their academic and professional background, research interests, career goals, and reasons for pursuing the doctoral degree.
