High court stays release of film ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’
Mumbai: In a setback for the Raj Kumar Rao-starrer, Bombay HC on Saturday stayed the release of a courtroom drama, granting interim relief to PVR Inox Ltd. The company sought the stay, claiming a violation of a contract for its release in theatres.PVR moved HC on Saturday for a special hearing, citing urgency. Through senior counsel Dinyar Madon and advocate Darshan Mehta, it said that unless the scheduled release was stayed, its claim would be rendered infructuous. Madon stated that the urgency was because Maddock Films Pvt Ltd and others, who produced the film, terminated an agreement dated May 6, 2025, by which it agreed to release the film ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf' in PVR theatres in India on May 9, 2025. Maddock, through senior counsel Venkatesh Dhond and advocate Ameet Naik, opposed the application for the grant of urgent reliefs. HC restrained the release and sought a reply from Maddock and the film's owner in two weeks. It will next hear the matter on Jun 16. —Swati Deshpande
