MUMBAI: In one of the biggest drug seizures, the city crime branch, on Thursday. arrested a couple from Govandi and seized around two kgs of heroin worth Rs 5.80 crores. The police also seized cash of Rs 76,500 from them. The arrested accused are identified as,

(67). Shamim’s husband, Khalid Khan, is already in jail in another drug peddling case. Police have booked the duo under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS).

, spotted a woman who had been wanted by the police for possession of narcotics. Police found two water bottles in her possession and on checking it was found that she had stored the contraband in the bottles.

“The police then found white powder, later identified as heroin of over 1.935 kilograms, worth 5.8 crore,” said an official. The drive on Thursday led to the arrest of 74 people and seizure of banned drugs worth 1.61 lakh.
