MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has asked a BMC corporator to respond to a petition that alleged a party office was constructed on a plot in Dharavi reserved for public purposes. “Come before us, or we will draw an adverse inference,” a division bench of Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice Rajesh Ketkar told corporator Parutai Katke.
The matter concerns a plot in Dharavi, which earlier housed a garage.
BMC acquired the land in 2008 as it was reserved for a public purpose. The petition alleges that subsequently, an office for Katke was set up on the land. Mhada’s lawyer denied the allegations and told the court that a community hall was constructed on the plot.
