Govinda's nephew seeks anticipatory bail

MUMBAI: Film actor and Member of Parliament Govinda's nephew, Janvindar Ahuja (25), filed for anticipatory bail in a sessions court on Monday after he was charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend on Friday night.
Ahuja alias Dumpy, son of Kirti Kumar and nephew of actor Govinda, allegedly assaulted Panchali Gupta on Friday night at her residence, and a complaint has been registered at Versova police station.
Gupta, a former Gladrags Mega Model 2000 winner (North India), was in a relationship with Ahuja for two-and-a-half years. The couple broke off a few months ago.
However, on Friday night, Ahuja, in a drunken state, allegedly barged into Gupta's residence and assaulted her. He is said to have banged her head against the wall repeatedly and slapped her, all the while abusing her.
Acting on Gupta's complaint the Versova police has booked Ahuja and he now fears arrest in connection with the case.
He therefore rushed to a sessions court on Monday to get protection from police action. The court has kept his plea for hearing on Tuesday.
