Gear up to go it alone, Amit Shah tells cadre

MUMBAI: BJP chief Amit Shah directed

to be ready for contesting the 2019 polls alone, if an alliance with the Shiv Sena could not be finalised, said sources.

Shah was in Mumbai on Monday to meet BJP MPs ahead of the general election in 2019. The BJP chief is reaching out to people from a cross-section of society. A marathon meeting, which was scheduled at the BJP office in Dadar, ended around 8pm.

Later, Shah along with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and other leaders left to meet singer Lata Mangeshkar at her home. The meeting is part of the 'Sampark Se Samarthan Tak' campaign. Shah was supposed to meet Lata on June 6 during his visit to Mumbai. However, Lata had to cancel the meeting as she was unwell.
