Mumbai: A special PMLA court has allowed the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) to question Jet Airways founder
Naresh Goyal in jail after taking the opinion of the Chief Medical Officer, Arthur Road Jail in light of the fact that he was recently detected with a malignancy.
Goyal (74) was arrested in September in a money laundering case. On Friday, the SFIO moved a plea to record Goyal’s statement in jail.
He filed for interim bail on medical grounds after the malignancy was detected in his intestines. The plea submitted by Goyal’s lawyers Aabad Ponda, Ameet Naik and Abhishek Kale sought grant of interim medical bail to enable him to carry out the necessary treatment and procedures as advised under the discharge summary dated January 30 and the subsequent histopathology report. The plea said that the private hospital, whose services Goyal was permitted by court to avail, also suggested various tests and procedures.tnn
