Four-year-old raped in Santa Cruz

MUMBAI: A four-year-old girl from Santa Cruz (W) was allegedly raped by a neighbour while her parents were away on Thursday night. The police arrested the neighbour, Sanjay Mohite (37), on Saturday.
The victim lives in a slum colony. Her father does odd jobs while her mother is a homemaker.
The police said the rape occurred around 10.45pm on Thursday, after the victim's mother stepped out to buy milk.Her father was out and the girl fell asleep. Mohite, who noticed that the child was alone at home, barged inside. He sexually assaulted and fled when he knew it was time for her mother to return.
The girl's mother returned to find the child bleeding. Doctors at a hospital said there was a possibility that she had been raped.
An FIR was lodged on Friday. The police made enquiries and picked up Mohite, charging him under Section 376 of the IPC.
In a separate incident, in Ghatkopar, a 17-year-old girl accused her boyfriend of rape after he backed out on his promise of marrying her. The police arrested Asif Ali Khan (20) on charges of rape, kidnapping and cheating. Khan is a resident of Narayan Nagar in Ghatkopar.
