He had boarded an up-local from Dadar station at around 2.30 am and was carrying Rs 15,000 in cash, as he intended to travel out of town later. He nodded off to sleep as it was quite late. "Minutes after the train passed Byculla station, four men tiptoed up to him. They cut his right pocket and stole his money. Startled, Khan woke up and tried to nab the fleeing men. One of them turned around and assaulted him on his fingers with a blade," said senior inspector Ashok Jadhav.
The robbers jumped off the train as it slowed down near Sandhurst Road. Khan later approached the railway police and lodged a complaint.
