MUMBAI: Surgeons at Fortis Hospital, Mulund conducted Mumbai’s 6th

pediatric heart transplant

recently to save a 10 year-old boy suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy. The donor was a 21 year- old male who succumbed to injuries suffered during a road traffic accident and was subsequently declared brain dead.

died few years after his elder brother met with a similar fate, on the same date. However, the family consented to donate his heart, liver, kidneys, skin and corneas of their kin.
