KALYAN: Police have booked former Mayor Kalyani Patil's husband Nitin Patil and three of his partners in Kalyan for cheating six buyers of Rs 19 lakh in the name of giving them flats in a building.
The accused booked in case are identified as Nitin Patil, his partner Vidyadhar Borade and two others. All four have been booked under cheating and forgery case.
The police said that the victims in their complaint alleged that Patil and Sarode who were constructing a building in Mohane area in Ambivli had taken token money of Rs 1 lakh to 3 lakh assuring to give them flats in C wing of the building. However after five years when the customers found that the builders had only constructed A and B wing and were not building C wing then they approached the builders asking them to return their money.
However instead of returning money, victims in complaint alleged that Sarode and Patil refused to give them money and started threatening them.
Finally the victims approached local Kolsewadi police station. The police after making primary investigation finally on Wednesday lodged case against Patil and others.
However sources said that Patil in his earlier statement to police has claimed that he was only partner in project A and B wing of building and did not have anything to do with the construction of the C wing
P M Yejare, an Investigator said, "On basis of six customers we have registered case against four partners including Patil and main builder Sarode."
