MUMBAI: A 23-year-old woman ran away from her posh Lokhandwala home after allegedly being forced into prostitution by her `parents.' The victim told the police she suspects that, as a child, she was sold to the couple that claimed to be her parents and alleged that she had been forced into prostitution for almost a decade.
The victim alleged that her `parents' were also forcing several of their other `daughters' into the flesh trade, and that they were operating a prostitution racket under the guise of a family. The victim, who is currently studying to be a beautician, is being looked after by a widow living in the city.
A police source said that victim alleged that she was made to dance in the city's bars from the time she was 14, and that she was repeatedly sold to rich customers who were looking for young girls.
The woman also alleged that, as part of the flesh trade, she was forced to travel to Dubai on several occasions and that her `parents' submitted fake documents for her passport, which was made in Agra several years ago.
The police source said that JCP (Crime) Sanjay Saxena has taken a serious note of the complaint and has instructed the crime branch sleuths to make inquiries into the case. Saxena did not respond to an SMS Mirror sent asking whether a probe has been initiated into the case.
