MUMBAI : The road transport fraternity on Thursday protested against 15% hike in fees for truckers at border checkposts in Maharashtra -- at a time when transport unions have made representation to CM, Dy CMs to expedite abolishment of border checkposts."The steep 15% fee hike, applied even to underloaded or empty vehicles with valid documentation, imposes severe financial strain and harassment on truck owners.
This action risks derailing the Ease of Doing Business and disrupting logistics facilitation in Maharashtra," said Bal Malkit Singh of All India Motor Transport Congress. "Amidst the impending general elections, the sudden hike in fees has sparked widespread resentment among road transport stakeholders across the nation," he added.
