Fire officials said the blaze erupted in an office on the second floor of the ground-plus-two structure, filling the entire building with thick smoke. Three fire engines, an ambulance, and a breathing apparatus van were dispatched to the site.

The fire started in the rear portion of the lodge room on the second floor and moved down to the Chapter room below. Both rooms are gutted but the damage was not extensive. As it was afternoon time not many members were present in the building, said senior Freemason member P Venkatraman

Bhoir suffered injuries to his right hand and was rushed to GT Hospital in a mobile police van. Doctors at the hospital said that he was receiving treatment for his injuries.

The blaze was extinguished at 5.36pm. No one was trapped in the fire, and no other injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
