MUMBAI: Three unknown volunteers helping Ganesh devotees for immersion of idols manhandled a fire brigade staff at Reti Bandar ghat in

's Mothagaon area in the wee hours of Friday.


Acting on the complaint of fireman Vinesh Koyande (31), Vishnu Nagar police have registered an NC (non-cognizable) offence against three unknown volunteers.

The victim works as a fireman in KDMC (Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation) fire brigade department.

Koyande since Thursday evening was on Ganesh idol immersion duty at a creek in Reti Bandar.

Vishnu Nagar Police said on Friday that it was 2.30am when Koyande noticed three accused volunteers deployed at the spot were allowing Ganesh devotees to come inside the restricted area.

Koyande stopped trio volunteers asking them not to allow devotees to enter the creek.

Police said trio got angry and they abused Koyande and also slapped him.
