MUMBAI:

Swaranjali

, a music festival dedicated to the memory of legendary vocalists Jitendra Abhisheki,

Suresh Haldankar

and CR Vyas, is back. The festival could not be organised for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The two-day festival (April 16-17) will see some of the best talents from across the country perform at the Nehru Centre,

Worli

.

The festival, featuring Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar,

Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan

, Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, Anand Bhate, Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia,

Vidwan U

Rajesh, Pandit Aditya Kalyanpur and Swaminathan Selvaganesh V. Swaranjali, will enthral the connoisseurs of classical music. A unique jugalbandi between Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi and Pandit Anand Bhate will also be presented as part of a tribute to Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

"The tradition of paying homage to the gurus has been a humbling experience for me. Every year, we have the best classical musicians participating in the festival. We believe it's one of the ways to promote classical music," said Pandit Prabhakar Karekar, chairman of the Swaraprabha Charitable Trust, which holds the Swaranjali festival.
