Fake doc moves HC seeking protection from arrest
MUMBAI: Self-proclaimed scientist Munir Khan on Wednesday moved the Bombay high court seeking a transfer of the case and protection from arrest. A division bench of Justice J N Patel and Justice Amjad Sayed declined any immediate relief for Khan and asked the state government to file an affidavit in the case.
Khan, who claimed to be able to cure all diseases, including cancer, with just one medicine, is on the run after his anticipatory bail application was rejected.

Khan claimed that the probe by the Versova police was biased and sought a transfer of the investigations either to the Mumbai crime branch or the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Additional public prosecutor F R Shaikh opposed any protection for Khan. "He has many cases registered against him and the police needs to interrogate him,'' said the prosecutor. The court has given the state government time till January 6, 2010 to file a reply. Khan is wanted by the Versova police in three cases, two of cheating and another of violating the Drugs and Magical Remedies Act, 1954.
