MUMBAI: Eight police personnel have been transferred to ATS despite the police commissioner objecting to their direct request to the DGP, bypassing him.

Police commissioner Sanjay Barve on June 11 had issued show-cause notices to over 12 policemen, asking why he should not take disciplinary action against them for not following the protocol on transfers. Barve had told them to reply by June 13. Most officers replied that they did not intend to disrespect the city

and such requests had been made earlier too.

The 12 had written to DGP S K Jaiswal seeking transfers to ATS. Those transferred include senior inspectors Nitin Alaknure, Dinesh Kadam, Nandkumar Gopale, Gnyaneshwar Wagh, Sudhir Dalvi, Rajesh Bhuyar, Umakant Adki and Santsoh Bhalekar.
