‘Drunk’ motorist hits four 2-wheelers; 1 dead, 2 hurt

Navi Mumbai: A man from Panvel died on Thane-Belapur road, near Ghansoli station, after a car hit his scooter late Monday. The driver, Laxman Shinde (43), from Ghansoli, was allegedly drunk. He lost control and hit a scooter, fatally injuring rider Sachin More (35), said police sub-inspector Hanumant Ubale. The car then hit two bikes and another scooter.Two men on the scooter were hurt and are in hospital. Another man escaped unhurt.
A magistrate’s court released the accused on bail. –George Mendonca
