Dog shot with air gun in Mumbai, battles for life

MUMBAI: A stray dog has been admitted to a veterinary care facility in Andheri after it was shot at with an air gun at a housing complex in Andheri around 2 this morning.

The dog is battling for life in hospital after a bullet punctured the lungs, said Rita Taneja who feeds stray dogs in the locality.

An NGO is in process of lodging FIR against the unidentified shooter, said Pooja Yadav, founder of World of Whiskers Animal Foundation.

"Officials of Oshiwara police station have been very supportive," said Yadav.

She said that Roshan Mansukhani, the secretary of Shantivan building, where the dog usually strays around, alerted the police about the matter.
