Based on specific intelligence, DRI officers intercepted a customer service executive suspected of involvement in gold smuggling. The individual, employed by Celebi NAS Airport Services India Pvt. Ltd., was stopped at one of the airport’s exit gates.

A personal search of the woman led to the recovery of two packets containing 3,350 grams of gold in paste form. Further investigation revealed that a ground handling staff member, also employed at the airport, had retrieved the gold from a waste cart on flight EY200 and passed it to the executive.

She then attempted to smuggle it out of the airport using her Aerodrome Entry Permit (AEP). Prima facie, it appears that the duo aided and abetted the smuggling operation for a particular syndicate in exchange for monetary compensation.

The recovered gold, weighing 3,350 grams and valued at approximately ₹2.67 crore, has been seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. Both individuals have been arrested and are in custody for further investigation.
