MUMBAI: Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot made a visit to Mumbai on Tuesday to check the way BEST has introduced the 100 per cent digital service in some of its buses.
Said BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra, "He wants to replicate the BEST model in Delhi buses. We showed him our 100 per cent of digital buses where one can tap in and tap out with zero paper tickets or manual interference.
He was also impressed by the NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) of BEST and was able to recharge it himself through a conductor within a few seconds."
The GM also informed Gahlot about the growth of e-buses, which is the highest fleet in Mumbai as compared to any other across the country.
"We also showed the route rationalisation project which has helped improve the frequency of buses - which now ply at less than 10-minute frequency on office-going routes during peak hours," Chandra added.
