MUMBAI: The Customs arrested a businessman and a clearing agent for allegedly trying to export a chemical without a prior no objection certificate (NOC) from the Narcotics Commissioner of the Central Bureau of Narcotics.
The exporter Kinjal Shah and the agent Deepak Raikar have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Their lawyers Aditya Talpade and Gurav Parkar argued that they had falsely arrested their client and sought judicial custody. Duo were sent to judicial custody.
The substance was 1-Boc-4-Piperidone, (precursor in the synthesis of synthetic drugs) a controlled chemical listed under NDPS (Regulation of Controlled Substances) Order, 2013, as amended in 2025.
