Court directs police probe in complaint against Prithvi Shaw

Mumbai: A magistrate’s court on Wednesday directed the police to conduct an enquiry on the complaint of a social media influencer who had alleged that cricketer Prithvi Shaw had touched her inappropriately at a pub in 2023. The woman had filed a complaint against Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav before the Andheri magistrate's court. The court directed the police to submit a report on June 19.

In April, 2023, the woman had moved the magistrate's court seeking registration of an FIR against the cricketer for “assaulting” and “outraging her modesty”. On June 26, last year in a report submitted over a complaint filed by the woman, who was among those arrested for abusing and attacking Shaw and damaging his car earlier, the police said there was no evidence of molestation or any misbehaviour against him. The police said the allegations are “false and unfounded.” The police in its report, said the CCTV footage of the ATC tower near the spot shows the woman running behind Shaw's car with a baseball bat and breaking its front glass.

Representing the woman, advocate Ali Kaashif Khan had earlier alleged a criminal complaint was filed against airport police station officers for not discharging their duties by registering an FIR on the complaint of the woman.
