Pune: A constable with the Mumbai police was among four people killed in an
accident that took place on Mumbai-Pune Expressway early on Saturday. The four were in a car which rammed into the rear of a container near Lonavla.
The deceased were identified as constable RajendraChavan (47) from Borivli, his wife Shakshi alias Sunita (42), and Shankar Vanagule (33) and Pooja Vanagule (26) who were from Mahad in Raigad.
The police said Chavan was driving at “breakneck” speed and lost control over the car. It veered to the left and slid beneath the truck, killing all four on the spot.
In another accident, three youths from Mumbai sustained minor injuries when their car veered off the Expressway due to a flat tyre. TNN
