Congress’s top Maharashtra netas join the fight in Karnataka

MUMBAI: Congress has appointed heavyweights from Maharashtra as observers for the upcoming assembly poll in Bengaluru and the rest of Karnataka. Former Mumbai Regional Congress Committee chief Sanjay Nirupam is part of a five-member committee set up for Bengaluru, while for the rest of Karnataka, MRCC president Charan Singh Sapra, former ministers Amit Deshmukh, Vishwajeet Kadam, Muzaffar Hussain, Satej Patil, Zeeshan Siddiqui, Vijay Wadettiwar and Nagpur legislator Vikas Thakre are observers.

“In view of the anti-BJP situation, it should not be difficult for Congress to wrest power. We will work in close coordination with the state’s Congress leaders,” Nirupam said. Senior Maharashtra leaders, including state chief Nana Patole, CLP leader Balasaheb Thorat, ex-CMs Ashok Chavan, Sushilkumar Shinde, and Prithviraj Chavan will campaign in Karnataka.
