MUMBAI: NCP president Sharad Pawar has called a meeting of NCP legislators and office bearers on July 5, while Congress legislature party leader Balasaheb Thorat has called a meeting of Congress legislators on July 4 to take stock of current political situation .
State NCP president Jayant Patil said the party does not approve the swearing-in of a section of NCP legislators.''We condemn their decision to join the government. We are told that senior legislators were summoned to the residence of Ajit and their signatures were obtained on blank papers. Some of them met ''Sharad Pawar, who is against the swearing-in ceremony,'' Patil said. BJP is adopting undemocratic tactics to engineer split in political parties, he added. Ajit Pawar has claimed support of over 40 legislators out of the total 54. But the Sharad Pawar camp has said he is nine short of the two-thirds number required for formation of a separate group. Sharad Pawar plans to parade all the legislators, supporting him, before the media on July 5,'' a senior NCP leader said.
