MUMBAI: The Congress and the NCP on Saturday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a statement on the disclosures made by former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satyapal Malik on the Pulwama episode.

“The allegations made by Satyapal Malik are very serious. Under such circumstances it will be appropriate if Modi himself clears the confusion. The BJP capitalised on the sacrifice of the 40 jawans to win the election,” MPCC president Nana Patole said.

Patole said the allegations made by Malik regarding the Pulwama incident and the offer of Rs 300 crore were worrying in terms of corruption and the security of the country. “There are many unanswered questions in Malik’s allegations. His allegation has deepened the suspicion around Modi. Since Malik represents the BJP, it is the responsibility of the PM and BJP to explain their stand on his allegations,” Patole said.

NCP spokesperson Mahesh Tapase said in view of the seriousness of Malik’s statements, it was expected that Modi would make a statement. “Modi owes an explanation to the country and the families of those 40 soldiers who were martyred in the Pulwama attack,” Tapase said.
