Concrete road laid recently caves-in at Bhayandar
Mira Bhayandar: There was panic among residents of Bhayandar (east) as a road caved in at Indralok locality Saturday afternoon No casualty has been reported. The concrete road had been recently laid, said locals, expressing doubt that over the quality of work done. Officials from Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation were not available for comment.The road has been kept out of bounds for vehicular traffic. Power supply to the nearby localities was also disrupted for a brief period due to the cave-in. Locals said the street is usually teeming with people, but was less crowded due to the weekend. Construction and piling work have been going on beside this road. Trees were being uprooted and moved along with the soil after the concrete road caved in.The police said that they would take suo motu cognisance of the matter and investigate the matter.The municipal corporation is assessing the exact damage caused due to the cave-in and it has been coordinating with various departments concerned — the tree authority, water and sewerage departments. —Vishal Rajemahadik
